1. Individual or Group/Collective Name: Long Long Ago Group 2. Your Proposed Project: Outline your project in the form of a brief 100-word summary: Long Long Ago : a project to dissolve identity. Long Long Ago intends for the community to be more receptive to a body of artists who may have different identities. This groups is about sharing experience, life, time and space. 3. Full Project Description: Describe your project in detail guided by the following questions (700 words max): A. What form will your project take? (e.g. exhibition, public art project, event, performance, publication, film series, interactive website, archive, publication, etc.) Long Long Ago intends for the community to be more receptive to a body of artists who may have different identities. And it is a social project about exposing a collective of Bay artists to the different districts in San Francisco. The Bay artists need to apply online to www.longlongago.com and submit a portfolio along with a proposal. Each district will have one candidate, or as a specified in the qualifying proposal. From the advancing candidates, each representing a different district, artists will form the new collective under the name Long Long Ago. Long Long Ago will travel around to each participating district and host one event. Each event is curated and hosted by that district’s artist. He or she will have reign over what is displayed. All forms are encouraged performance, installation, exhibition, etc. The idea is to bring the surrounding district into an intimate, comfortable or familiar space, such as the hosting artist’s house. B. Where will your project take place? (Proposed projects may not take place at Southern Exposure.) If you don’t have a location yet, how do you plan to secure one? If your project does not require a physical venue, how will it be publicly accessed? Each participating district will host one event. There will be a maximum 27 events, correlating with the 27 San Francisco districts. Every winning candidate is responsible for both hosting and curating the event that takes place in their district, while continuing to participate in the other curated shows that take place in the different districts. The venue is up to the hosting artist and ideally takes place in that artist's house or a public space. If there are any conflicts, Long Long Ago will come together to find a venue which best works in that district. Long Long Ago will secure a safe location for every event taking place in each district. C. Address your motivations for the project and your plans to support local artists. Long Long Ago aims to dissolve a barrier or misunderstanding to remove the public’s stereotype. The esthetic of having different artists with different backgrounds, or identifiers, come together and make new works. This groups is about sharing experience, life, time and space. The purpose is to not only respect each other, but work together as a whole; artists will have the same aim to do something. The artist is so individualized and this offers a community of other artists. Local districts come together in view, interact and observe community. D. Who is your intended audience? What kind of community impact do you anticipate your project will have? Posters will be places around the areas to invite public to experience artists, also this invites artists to other communities and give exposure to new people. The different communities will honor their area artist while honoring other artists from the San Francisco area. Documentation will be uploaded to the Long Long Ago website and from there, other people will be able to see these events. One event will take place every two weeks. Facebook Events will be made to anticipate the turn out. Local promotion will be announced in public spaces with posters, and on social media with people who are in contact with each other. E. Tell us about your project timeline and include milestone dates relevant to your project. Long Long Ago will be really long, as it takes place over 54 weeks. Over the year, the event will gain attraction from the people. Promotion and calls for artists will start immediately and end on October 31st 2017. Approved artists will be announced on November 30th 2017 and Long Long Ago will also send out specific dates for each artist to host and curate an event, in their district.
