VIDEO DESCRIPTION
Published description
When people stop, the world keeps moving. A pool, a projected room, rehearsals and roadside waiting enter one another across different moments.
A new 13-minute-51-second film by He Fa / P4 Theater, edited from 15 original shooting files in the Human Surrender archive. Inspired by Gilles Deleuze's time-image, the edit explores waiting, recurring gestures and the separation of sound from its original image. It is a new film made from shooting rushes, not a recut of the previous finished feature.
Original Mandarin location sound. Chinese and English subtitles are available through CC. Two passages deliberately combine sound and image from different source scenes. Events are rearranged; this is not a chronological documentary account of the performers' private lives. No new synthetic narration was added. The thumbnail is an AI-assisted design based on an actual film frame.
Original project: He Fa / P4 Theater
Editing collaboration: Codex
